Leading our littlest explorers is Kristi Bailey, who comes to us with a wealth of experience. She graduated from Lubbock Christian University and is certified to teach grades EC - 4 with a ESL and gifted and talented certification, as well. Kristi has taught kinder, 1st, and 3rd grades in the public school system, was a homebound teacher in Lake Worth and Springtown ISD, has tutored privately for over 10 years, and has homeschooled her friend's children for the past two years to help meet them where they were and fill gaps public school was unable to cover. She also has experience teaching ESL to children overseas through an online program.
Kristi loves spending time with her two children, Klair and Jaci, gardening, volunteering at the local library as the "story time lady," and going on day trips to learn and experience new things. She and her family are members of Springtown Church of Christ, where she is very involved with the Children's ministry and will be teaching VBS this summer.
Kristi believes that God is first, family is second and education is a very close third. She loves reading - it is her passion in her personal life and teaching, but thinks science and social Studies are the perfect pairs to reading.
SEEK 2nd - 6th Grade
Crystal Thom, our 4th - 6th grade teacher, is a graduate of UT Arlington with a Bachelors in Science in Interdisciplinary Studies Math and Science. She is certified grades 4-8 Math and Science. Crystal taught one year of 6th grade all inclusive and 7th grade science as well as Pre-AP Science for 9 years. During her public school career, Crystal served as grade level Science chair, Science department chair and served as curriculum advisor and developer. She was also honored as teacher of the year.
Crystal has a combined total of 18 years of teaching experience. For the last 8 years, Crystal has home- schooled her 3 children kindergarten through 11th grade.
Crystal believes in building strong foundational skills and a love for learning to encourage students to be lifelong learners. Her children and students alike are challenged to be independent, critical thinkers, who can work both independently and collaboratively as a group with other eager learners. Hands-on activities, skill building and positive reinforcement are used to support students in their natural learning processes.
Hayley Bassham, a founder of SEEK Collaborative, is blessed to be the bride of Blake, mom of Remington (10), Laramie (4), Piper (3), Nixon (1), and our sweet angel girl, Nolan. She has homeschooled for the past 3 years, after seeing the toll society was putting on her daughter. She is a former public educator with 3 years classroom experience teaching 7th grade ELA, Civics, and Dance. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Dance from Sam Houston State University and minored in Business. For the past 7 years, she has taught at a local dance studio and is looking forward to the upcoming dance season. Before that, she taught at her hometown studio from the age of 16 until she married at 21. She is an active member at church, teaching Sunday school in kids ministry and then leading small group with 5th/6th ministry. Hayley is a firm believer that we’re not meant to do life alone. Education is not exempt from that belief. She wants SEEK to be a place that partners with families to make homeschooling a viable option; to support parents and transform students. Chasing after Jesus- in all things- is her heart’s desire.
Psalms 115:14 May the Lord richly bless both you and your children.
Rachael Frazier, one of our SEEK Directors, is a mother of three and has homeschooled for the last 4 years. Prior to that, she was an educator, working in the public school system, for a University as a recruiter, and in an Educational non-profit. As an 8th grade ELA teacher, Rachael's students boasted the highest test grades in her district, and she was selected to serve on a team in Austin, helping to take some of the confusion out of standardized testing questions.
As 21st century learners, information is at our fingertips. Rachael believes if students love to learn, can work together with their peers and have problem solving and critical thinking skills, they will be most successful.
Rachael helped to create SEEK based on a hybrid homeschool model her children were part of in Abilene. SEEK has been a work in progress for the past two years, and she is excited to see how God will grow the program to impact other families in the Weatherford homeschool community.
