SEEK SCOUTS, Brock and Willow Park

LANA McGEE

Joining us to blaze a trail with our little explorers is Lana McGee.

Lana is a graduate of Western Kentucky University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Special Education, learning and behavioral K-12/Gen. Ed K-4 and a Master’s in Secondary Guidance Counseling.

She enjoyed her public school teaching career as an elementary and high school inclusive and collaborative teacher for a total of 7 years. She then decided to be a stay at home mom, but still substituted for a few years until moving to Texas in 2006. She was blessed with her children attending The Schoolhouse of Weatherford and eventually teaching Pre-K there for the past 12 years.

Just as Lana felt God placed the Schoolhouse in her life, she feels the same about SEEK, as she moves into this next chapter of her teaching career.

Lana is passionate about teaching this age because “littles” love to find their independence, discover their problem solving skills, and utilize their critical thinking skills. These are some of the building blocks of life, and can naturally lead to a love of learning and a successful academic career. Lana is especially excited about sharing her love of Jesus Christ with her students. Teaching children to lead a Christ-centered life is a privilege and a blessing. Lana has also taught Religious education classes at St. Stephen Catholic Church for the past 7 years.

She lives in Brock with her daughter, Ella, who is a senior in High School. Her son, Easton is in Montana living his dream as a hunting/fishing guide. Lana comes from a large family all of whom reside in Kentucky, she loves to travel there as often as possible to see her many nieces and nephews. Lana loves to read, loves to crochet, and spending time with her family and friends.

RHONDA BENNETT

Teaching young children has always been such a joy for Rhonda. She believes getting a firm foundation during the early years of education sets up each child for future success, as well as a lifelong love of learning.

Rhonda is a graduate of Texas Tech University with certifications in Elementary Education K-8 and Special Education EC-12. She is certified in ESL and a Reading Specialist. Her teaching experience includes 5 years for Weatherford ISD and 25 years for Peaster ISD. She retired in 2014, although she continues to substitute teach for Peaster, does contract work for Parker County Co-Op Special Services and tutors children in her home.

Rhonda is a longtime member of Northside Baptist Church where she has served in Children's Vacation Bible School, Sunday school and working with the youth. She, her husband Jeff, and their two sons, Taylor and Spencer have been very blessed over the years to have been involved in youth camps, mission trips and many other services through NSBC.

Her current joy is her three grandbabies: Knox, Emberly and Hadyson, who are so precious and the loves of her life. She is so thankful to be a part of their growth and development through hands on learning activities, playing games, art projects and reading lots of books. Rhonda continues her love of learning through Bible studies and reading. She loves looking on Pinterest and other websites for new and fun ways to encourage children to be independent learners and creative thinkers.

Thonda thinks "Children are God's greatest gift, they are to be treasured as unique individuals." They very often teach her something new and wonderful! For that she is so honored and thankful.

"Children are a gift from God, they are a reward from Him." Psalms 127:3

LAURA MCANALLY

Laura's daughter Ruby is 8 years old, and homeschooling her the last few years has sparked a passion in Laura for this age group. With the foundational skills beginning to be established it is such a gift to watch them expand their learning.

Laura graduated from Texas Woman's University with a degree in Sociology, and went on to receive her masters in Educational Leadership from University of Texas - Arlington.

Laura taught 8th grade Science in both Forney and Northwest ISD before deciding to stay at home with her two kids and homeschool both Ruby and Rocky.

Laura loves Jesus and her relationship with Him and her biblical worldview is the foundation she builds her life on. In her free time she enjoys doing ANYTHING with her family, going out dancing with her husband and spending time with her close friends.

She is thrilled to be at SEEK and to be given the opportunity to spend time supplementing the teaching that's already being done in the homeschool setting.

SEEK DIRECTOR

HAYLEY BASSHAM

Hayley Bassham, a founder of SEEK Collaborative, is blessed to be the bride of Blake, mom of Remington, Laramie, Piper, Nixon, and our sweet angel girl, Nolan. She has homeschooled for the past 6 years, after seeing the toll society was putting on her daughter. She is a former public educator with 3 years classroom experience teaching 7th grade ELA, Civics, and Dance. In 2021-2022, Hayley doubled up on her roles at SEEK and began in the classroom, where she teaches lots of fun, interactive lessons with her crew.

Hayley graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Dance from Sam Houston State University and minored in Business. For the past 7 years, she has taught at a local dance studio and before that, she taught at her hometown studio from the age of 16 until she married at 21.

She is an active member at church, volunteering in all capacities with the children's ministries. Hayley is a firm believer that we’re not meant to do life alone. Education is not exempt from that belief. She wants SEEK to be a place that partners with families to make homeschooling a viable option; to support parents and transform students. Chasing after Jesus- in all things- is her heart’s desire.

Psalms 115:14 May the Lord richly bless both you and your children.

SEEK Director

RACHAEL FRAZIER

Rachael Frazier, one of our SEEK Directors, is a mother of three and has homeschooled for the last 7 years. Prior to that, she was an educator, working in the public school system, for a University as a recruiter, and in an Educational non-profit. As an 8th grade ELA teacher, Rachael's students boasted the highest test grades in her district, and she was selected to serve on a team in Austin, helping to take some of the confusion out of standardized testing questions.

As 21st century learners, information is at our fingertips. Rachael believes if students love to learn, can work together with their peers and have problem solving and critical thinking skills, they will be most successful.

Rachael helped to create SEEK based on a hybrid homeschool model her children were part of in Abilene called Tiny School. SEEK has been a work in progress for the past four years, and she is excited to see how God will grow the program to impact other families in the Parker County homeschool community.
